A graduate in natural science from the Cambridge University, UK, Jagadish Chandra Bose was one of the first Indian scientists to reveal that plants can “feel pain,” and “understand affection”. Also know as father of radio science.
Pandita Ramabai born in Karnataka, she was conferred the title of ‘Pandita’ by Calcutta University, in 1878 for her ability to memorise more than 18,000 verses from the Puranas. During her career, she has contributed tremendously towards the cause of destitute women, widows and the girl child.
Morarji Desai after quitting the Indian National Congress, Desai became the leader of Janata Party and won the elections to become the first non-Congress Prime Minister in 1977. He is also the only Indian to have been conferred with Pakistan’s highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Pakistan, for his contribution towards bettering international relations with the country.
